Tillman is coming off a brilliant campaign with PSV. In 34 games for the Dutch side, he scored 16 goals and had five assists across all competitions. With the USMNT, he has three goals in three games to begin the Gold Cup – the first three goals of his international career.
A product of the Bayern Munich system, Tillman made seven first-team appearances with the Bavarian giants before being loaned out to Rangers in Scotland during the 2022-23 season. He then joined PSV on loan, before he was outright purchased by the Eredivisie side last summer.
Over the past two seasons, Tillman has helped PSV to consecutive league titles and has broken through with the U.S. national team. Leverkusen, meanwhile, won the Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season and this past campaign finished second.
Manager Xabi Alonso recently departed the club, signing as coach for Real Madrid, with former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag hired in his place.
Tillman's release clause with PSV is estimated to be $46M (€40M).
